SKATEDOLLY
SKATEDOLLY can be configured in three ways, to provide maximum flexibility and value: shuffle mode, pod mode and sled mode. Sled mode is the third configuration. To Configure a SKATEDOLLY into Sled mode you will need two components:
First: Place the platform into the lower portion of the sled handle. Second: Using the speed wrench bolt them together with seven 3/8” bolts. Last: Attach the upper portion of the handle to the lower. A SKATEDOLLY in sled mode has a completely different flavor than a Sled mode opens even more possibilities: you can ride it hand-held, you can ride it with a steady system like a Steadicam, and you can even rig lights to it. These are just a few ways to use a SKATEDOLLY in sled mode. The SKATEDOLLY Sled will work on concrete or asphalt. It can maneuver down narrow hallways or alleys without the use of track. It can steady a fast moving hand-held shot. It will allow a steady system operator to concentrate on composition instead of splitting their concentration between composition and maneuvering. A steady systems operator can mount their rig to the SKATEDOLLY Sled or he/she can wear it. Mounting the rig will save the operator’s back and keep them fresh. Wearing the rig will give them the ability to step on or off the sled. The lighting aspect of the sled will open a door to many new lighting effects. These new lighting effects will add a fresh new element to your film or video project. There is a variation within the theme:
When you purchase the Sled handle you will also receive a set of outrigger wheels. A SKATEDOLLY in Sled mode will work with or without the outrigger wheels. Without the outrigger wheels the dolly is in “Freestyle.” This means the dolly will move in any direction. It will move forwards, sideways, or at any angle. You can literally do circles around your subject. With the outrigger wheels the dolly performs differently--it is “Linear”. The outrigger wheels act like a rudder on a ship. It gives the dolly direction. With the wheels, if you turn the dolly right it turns to the right, without the wheels if you turn the dolly to the right it pivots right. This difference in sled performance will give you more options and it’s always good to have more options. The outrigger wheels attach on the backend of the sled with two 3/8th bolts. A SKATEDOLLY in Sled mode is a simple and cost effective way to add enormous production value to your film or video project. For under $2800 you will receive: the SKATEDOLLY platform, the Sled Handle, and the Outrigger Wheels. With this package you will be able to achieve all three configurations Shuffle, Pod, and Sled. There is no other dolly that delivers as many options or styles as a SKATEDOLLY. Remember that SKATEDOLLY is light and compact even with all the components, it won’t take up much space in your production vehicle, in fact it can fit in the trunk of your car.
