SKATEDOLLY can be configured in three ways, to provide maximum flexibility and value: shuffle mode, pod mode and sled mode.

Shuffle mode is the first configuration.

To configure your SKATEDOLLY into shuffle mode all you need is the platform and an apple box.

The SKATEDOLLY platform is the heart and soul of SKATEDOLLY. Although it appears simple it is a well engineered tool. The platform is computer designed and manufactured, machined to perfection. Milled out of aircraft grade aluminum and perfectly balanced on eight casters and wheels. The bearings on both the casters and wheels are of the highest quality. The SKATEDOLLY platform is subtle, silent, and virtually indestructible. This is true for all the components designed and manufactured by SKATEDOLLY.

Shuffle mode being the simplest configuration, does one thing very well. Shuffle mode allows a hand-held camera operator to shoot low-angle shots and still maintain graceful movement.

How often have you wanted to go from standing hand-held to low angle hand-held? Sounds simple enough, you are hand-held standing up, and then you go down on one knee. The problem is that you are stuck there motionless until you stand up and walk. This industry has created all kinds of contraptions for solving this simple problem. Go grab a piece of wood or an old apple box, slap four casters on it, problem solved, right? Well sort of: it works, but the wheels squeak, it’s a bit clunky and it takes some effort to move. The SKATEDOLLY platform solves all of these problems.

Each of the eight wheels on the platform carries 1/8th of the weight; this makes it easy to turn. The eight wheels also smooth out any imperfections on the floor; when one wheel hits an imperfection there are still seven wheels running smoothly. The wheels are also so slippery that the slightest push with the balls of your feet will set the dolly in motion. You will be able to slide in any direction, whip-pan with ease, and follow or lead any action. The eight wheels and casters also provide enormous stability which is not only important for shuffle mode but for pod mode as well.

The SKATEDOLLY does not include a seat. Why design a seat when you can use an apple box? You can find an apple box on any film or video production. The SKATEDOLLY platform measures 20x20 inches and is designed to accommodate an apple box. The dimensions of a full apple box are 9x12x20 inches. If you need to change your height you have three quickly adjustable heights at your disposal. Who has time to waste adjusting a seat? If you need more choices add a half or full apple box. If you want to be even lower sit directly on the platform. SKATEDOLLY is a practical commonsense design.

SKATEDOLLY also makes a custom apple box; it has an open cavity big enough to fit a battery belt. However, it is not necessary, to purchase one because you can use any apple box with the SKATEDOLLY.

The SKATEDOLLY platform alone will give you both Shuffle and Pod mode. These are two powerful options, all with a dolly that can almost fit into the glove compartment of your car.
