SKATEDOLLY
The 3-in-1 Camera Dolly
Pod Configuration

SKATEDOLLY is a patented design. Patent 7140622

SKATEDOLLY can be configured in three ways, to provide maximum flexibility and value: shuffle mode, pod mode and sled mode.

Pod mode is the second configuration.

A SKATEDOLLY can be configured into Pod mode in three ways:

  1. By attaching a tripod to the platform using ratchet straps.
  2. By bolting the SKATEDOLLY Mitchell base hi-hat to the platform and attaching additional Mitchell risers.
  3. By bolting on the SKATEDOLLY bazooka adapter and adding additional bazooka risers.

All three methods result in the same configuration. Use whichever method suits you best.

A SKATEDOLLY in Pod mode produces a sought-after look -- the look of a smooth tracking dolly. There is an added element: not only can it move like a conventional dolly, it has the agility of a steady system like Steadicam. Pod mode does not require a dolly grip. The camera operator can move the camera at will. Of all the configurations pod mode will require some practice to master. But instead of the years it takes to master a steady system it will only take days. The time spent practicing will reward you with some truly spectacular shots.

A SKATEDOLLY in pod mode has a very small footprint. This comes in handy on small sets or tight locations. The small footprint also makes it possible to fit two cameras where there would normally be just enough room for one camera.

The platform only weighs 35 pounds and taking it up three flights of stairs is not an ordeal compared to lugging a conventional dolly that could easily weigh hundreds of pounds.

SKATEDOLLY in pod mode is a great alternative to a conventional dolly or even a steady system. You will find a SKATEDOLLY in Pod mode to be light, agile, and very affordable. The SKATEDOLLY platform alone will give you Pod mode and Shuffle mode. Two powerful options and all for under $1000.
