SKATEDOLLY entered the scene in 2002, invented by Richard Cantú, a Los Angeles camera operator and Director of Photography. Richard felt there was a need for a dolly that assisted the hand-held and steady system camera operator. Other devices lurked about, but none of them worked well. Like most inventions it was created out of necessity.

As Richard set out to invent the SKATEDOLLY he knew it would have to be functional, practical, and it would have to withstand the rigors of day-to-day production. SKATEDOLLY not only met his requirements it surpasses them. SKATEDOLLY is a well-built piece of equipment. The SKATEDOLLY not only assists the hand-held and steady system camera operator it opened a new door: Pod mode. Pod mode put a graceful twist into camera movement. The look and feel of Pod mode lies between a conventional dolly and a steady system. Although Pod is listed as the second configuration it is truly the third. Just as Shuffle and Sled mode release the hand-held and steady system operator Pod mod releases the conventional dolly.

SKATEDOLLY is proud of this innovative dolly. We will continue to build them using the best materials and constructions methods. We will strive to keep costs down without sacrificing quality. In fact, we have just implemented a considerable price reduction. SKATEDOLLY is not just for the Hollywood crowd any longer.
